Dooley is correct; just because your GF is six-foot tall does not change her basic strength profile. Unless she is extremely athletic, she needs women’s flex shafts, even if it may be necessary to have the clubs custom made for length. Women generally have less upper body strength than similarly-sized men and require the whippier shafts to obtain distance and club speed. Getting her a men’s regular flex from which she cannot get maximum torque will actually reduce how far she can hit the ball.

As a beginner, she needs to develop a smooth, rhythmic swing and she will most likely swing more slowly than she will later as she gains more confidence and consistency. At slower swing speeds, it is doubtful she would be able to get much flex from a men’s shaft.

If you do decide to go with men’s clubs for the added length, I suggest looking into getting them with Senior Flex for all of the reasons discussed above. Senior flex is closer to women’s flex and are whippier than men’s regular, so that might be a compromise solution.

Men ranging from 5’6 to 6’4 typically use the same length shafts, so there is no reason a woman 6’0 cannot use the same clubs as a woman 5’4. The longer swing arc she will be able to make should cause her to hit the ball farther, but there is no reason to use special clubs.

my mom has mens clubs because she has a fast swing so if she is a good golfer then she should have mens clubs but if she is just now starting then she should prob have womens clubs like me but other wise i would take her to a golf store and see what she likes and what the people at the golf store think she should have

You should choose only women’s clubs. They are built for the ladies normally slower swing speeds compared to men.

Now if she is very athletic and an accomplished golfer already, then you would want a set matched to her swing speed.

If she is new to golf then have her measured for clubs by the club pro she will then get the clubs that really suit her style of swing etc
