I recently noticed a little rattling noise inside my pitching wedge and 6 iron. Whenever I hold the club straight up or down it sounds sort of like theres a little rock on the inside goinf down the shaft. What does this mean? Is the inside of my shaft damaged, could it break? Is it safe to play with my clubs or should I get them immediately reshafted?

My best guess would be that a small bit of Epoxy has broken loose and is rattling…..It should not cause any problem outside of the psychological one. The shaft is not damaged nor do I think that the head will come off.

It is a small piece of epoxy, and won’t harm a thing. You can remove it easily by cutting out a small circle at the top of the butt end of the grip with an exacto knife, taking it off like the lid on a pumpkin(jack-o-lantern)and then super glue or epoxy it back on. Your hardware store has 5 minute 2 part epoxy made by Devcon that works well.

The noise is loose epoxy that broke off inside the shaft.
